We seek to provide support to women leading NYC based social enterprises through a membership based community.

Mission

The mission of the WLC is to foster a community of experienced social impact leaders who provide and receive individual and collective support by:

Creating safe and creative learning spaces for leaders to be proactive in their own professional and personal development
Providing opportunities for leaders to give and receive peer coaching through meetings and discussions
Sharing best practices, resources, and information through the listserv and meetings
Expanding connectivity to colleagues through the listserv and meetings

The WLC is committed to creating an inclusive community enhanced by diversity along a number of dimensions, including race, ethnicity, gender identity along the spectrum of female/femme identities, and national origin, and we hope to increase the representation of those populations that have been historically excluded from leadership.

History

The WLC was started in 2013 when Erica Hamilton assembled a small group of women, largely Executive Directors and a C-level leader, of a variety of NYC based social impact organizations to meet informally, over breakfast, to discuss and provide counsel professional and personal challenges. Over the years, as the group expanded, it evolved into a membership organization with multiple offerings and convenings. An Advisory Team manages the WLC and creates responsive programs for members.
